Michael Calderone
Michael Calderone is a freelance trumpeter based in Chicago, IL. He has appeared with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra, Evanston Symphony (IL), and in July 2017 performed in Claude Vivier’s Kopernikus with the Banff Centre’s Opera in the 21st Century residency program. Calderone currently works in the Rehearsal Department at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he also coordinates visiting artist visas.
Michael studied with Chris Gekker at the University of Maryland School of Music, and Channing Philbrick at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. When not playing the trumpet or thinking about opera, Michael can be found biking around Chicago, taking film photos, or tending to his houseplants.
