Don't miss: Ayre
NewsWe first heard Khalil perform Ayre at The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and it completely shattered any expectations we had of Golijov's music, or of Khalil's range of vocal colour. It feels ancient, reverent, and like the sound of city buskers; it feels like a catchy tune you've heard before, and something intangible.

The show is about 75% sold out but there are still some great seats left, since there isn't a bad seat to be found in the beautifully restored Jane Mallett Theatre.

News"Summon your muse and tell us what happens to Lohengrin after he gets on the swan-less boat at the end of the opera. Did his boat turn into a time machine and bring him to America's shores to clean up in the aftermath of our presidential election? Perhaps Lohengrin jumps ship entirely and decides he'd rather dance to Tchaikovsky ballet music."

NewsAt the end of the evening, we learned that after their intensive work with Radvanovsky, "La Wowza" couldn't decide which singer should be awarded the Career Blueprint - so they decided to send TWO singers. The winners of the evening were Marjorie Maltais and Natalya Gennadi.
The time I spilled some secrets into a microphone
NewsHow do I get away with writing about opera from within it, when I know the cast and creative team? How do I publish fair reviews? How do I address problems in different organizations, and decide whether or not to name names? Why do some in the opera industry resort to anonymity in order to say what they feel is true?
