He was highly acclaimed by public and press alike when presenting his first Philippe of Don Carlos in the original French version in Darmstadt as well as for his appearance as Kaspar in Der Freischütz at the Baden-Baden Festival under Thomas Hengelbrock. Despite his young age, the Russian bass won also great acclaim for his impressive portrayal of Gurnemanz in PArsifal and for Méphistophélès in Gounod’s Faust.

Mr. Ivashchenko is Russian and a graduate of the Glinka Conservatory in Novosibirsk. After moving to Germany, he completed his studies at the Music High School of Karlsruhe. International appearances include Sarastro at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Osmin at the Scottish Opera in Glasgow and at the Teatro Gayarre de Pamplona (Spain), whereto he returned as Sir Giorgio in I Puritani. He also performed excerpts from Boito’s Mefistofele in Bilabao, Ludwig VI in Weber’s Euryanthe at the Théatre du Capitole de Toulouse, Mephisto, Böser Geist & Pater Profundus in Schumann’s Faust Szenen at La Scala in Milan, Janaceck’s Glagolitic Mass with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under Pierre Boulez at the Musikverein in Vienna, Commendatore in Don Giovanni and Frère Laurent in Romeo et Juliette at the Salzburg Festival 2010, Pogner in a new production of Die Meistersinger as well as Vodnik in RUSALKA at the Komische Oper Berlin, Verdi’s Requiem in Berlin and Zurich, Titurel in Parsifal with the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under Marek Janowski at the Philharmonie Berlin, Banco in Maceth in Lille, Hunding in a concert version of WALKÜRE, 1st act at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Bruckner’s Te Deum with the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg, a scenic version of Verdi’s Requiem in Cologne, Sparafucile in Rigoletto at the Opéra de Paris/Bastille, Vodnik in Rusalka in Vienna, the title part in a new production of Boris Godunow in Dortmund, Schostakovitch’s 14th Symphony with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, Verdi’s Requiem with the Hamburger Symphoniker under Philippe Jordan, Sparafucile/Rigoletto at the Munich State Opera, Pogner/Meistersinger at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Sarastro/Zauberflöte with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle at the Baden-Baden Festival and at the Philharmonie Berlin, Gurnemanz/Parsifal in Santiago de Chile and in Darmstadt, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle at the Waldbühne Berlin and at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Daland in The Flying Dutchman in Geneva, Rocco in Fidelio in Bremen, Bonn and Yokohama as well as for a CD recording, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra in Dresden, the Verdi Requiem at the Festival of Grafenegg and at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Lider und Tänze des Todes with the Basler Sinfonietta in Basel as well as with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra under Carlo Rizzi in Amsterdam, Sarastro in Zauberflöte at the Komische Oper Berlin, Méphistophélès in Gounod’s Faust at the Hong Kong Opera, Pogner in a gala performance of Meistersinger in Karlsruhe and Rocco in a concert version of Fidelio with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra in Dresden. In the fall of 2014, he performed Osmin in concert performances of Entführung aus dem Serail under René Jacobs in Perugia, Kempten, Amsterdam and in Brussels, Tiresias in Oedipus Rex at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Sarastro in Zauberflöte at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Hunding/Walküre in Toronto. In the second part of the season 201415 he was invited by the Opéra de Paris/Bastille for two important revivals, Vodnik/Rusalka as well as Sarastro/Zauberflöte and in summer 2015 by the Bregenz Festival for Timur/Turandot and with the Zauberflöte production of the Komische Oper Berlin as Sarastro at the Edinburgh Festival.

The fall 2015 started with Kaspar in concert performances of Der Freischütz with the NDR Orchestra under Thomas Hengelbrock in Hamburg and Paris, The Four Villains: Lindorf, Coppelius, Miracle, Dapertutto in a new production of Les contes d’Hoffmann at the Komische Oper Berlin, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle on a world tour, including Berlin, Paris, Vienna, New York, Taipei and Tokyo followed by Sparafucile/Rigoletto at the MET in New York and Iwan Chowanski/Chowanschtschina in Amsterdam.

Among the present and future events: Sarastro/Zauberflöte with the Komische Oper Berlin at the Liceu in Barcelona, Oroveso/Norma in Toronto, Daland/Der fliegende Holländer at the Teatro Real in Madrid, The Four Villains: Lindorf, Coppelius, Miracle, Dapertutto/Les contes d’Hoffmann at the Komische Oper Berlin, Osmin in a new production of Entführung aus dem Serail at the Dresden State Opera, Zacharie/Le prophete in Toulouse, Sarastro in a new production of Zauberflöte at the Theater an der Wien, at the Aix-en-Provence Festival 2018 and at the Nederlandse Opera, Amsterdam, Hunding/Walküre and Dom Juan/Dom Sebastien in Toulouse, a re-invitation to the MET with Sparafucile/Rigoletto and his first Baron Ochs/Rosenkavalier in Santiago de Chile, etc.
