James Cheung
This season sees James appearing with Christian Gerhaher at the Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Dusseldorf Tonhalle. Other performances include recitals at the Banff Centre of the Arts in Canada as well as recitals and festivals throughout the UK.
As an accompanist James has been a Kirckman Society artist and performed numerous times at Wigmore Hall with Benjamin Appl, Jonathan McGovern and Anna Huntley. Under the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme, James has appeared throughout the UK with sopranos Raphaela Papadakis and Alison Rose, and performs regularly in recitals with singers including Ian Bostridge, Joan Rodgers, Elizabeth Watts, Ruby Hughes, Marcus Farnsworth and Katherine Broderick.
Highlights of last season saw James appearing at the Oxford Lieder Festival and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden with Alison Rose as well as a festival in Munich with Ingolf Turban, Maximilian Hornung and Gerold Huber.
James has recorded for BBC radio 3 in live broadcasts with Joan Rodgers, appeared on live BBC television with Ruby Hughes and was featured as a ‘new face’ by the Daily Telegraph.
James studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Moscow Conservatoire and notably with the pianist Gerold Huber.
