Jennifer Davis
Jennifer Davis, described by The Irish Times as “the voice to watch”, is currently one of the Jette Parker Programme’s Young Artists at the Royal Opera House, where her roles include Ifigenia in Oreste, Inez in Il trovatore and Arbate in Mitridate, re di Ponto, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (cover), Adina in L’elisir d’amore (cover), Tatyana in Eugene Onegin (cover) Second Grace/Second Fate in Orpheus at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe, Nursing Sister in Suor Angelica, the world premiere of 4.48 Psychosis at the Lyric Hammersmith. In addition, she will perform with The Royal Ballet as Elisabeth in Les enfants terribles and in a double bill including Gorecki’s Third Symphony and Woolf Works to a score by Max Richter.
Her recent engagements include Female Chorus in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia for Irish Youth Opera, Agata in Antonio Cagnoni’s Don Bucefalo for Wexford Festival Opera, Eurydice for The Junction Festival in Ireland and a new production of Svadba for Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix en Provence.
Her operatic roles include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (Glasthule Opera), High Priestess in Aida (Lyric Opera Productions), Governess in The Turn of the Screw (DIT), Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro (Lyric Opera Productions), Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore as part of their Short Works series (Wexford Opera Festival).
She made her lunchtime debut with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in a concert entitled “Lunchtime Jewels” to great acclaim. She has performed in concerts at the National Concert Hall in Ireland, John Field Room (NCH), Dublin Castle, Kilruddery House and Gardens, and Trinity Church Dublin, Dora Stoutzker Hall in Cardiff with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera among others.
Oratorio solo work includes works by Howard Goodall, Vaughan Williams, Mozart Requiem and Coronation Mass, a performance with the Irish Chamber Orchestra of Handel Dixit Dominus, Beethoven Choral Fantasia with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and pianist Finghin Collins, and Haydn Creation and Nelson Mass.
She graduated with first class honours in Masters in Vocal Performance from DIT’s Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin. Jennifer is also a recent alumna of the National Opera Studio in London and Opera Theatre Company’s Young Associate Artist programme in Ireland.
