Maria Mudryak
In just a few years young Kazakh soprano Maria Mudryak (born in 1994) has become one of the most sought after lyric coloraturas of her generation and already celebrated successes in roles such as Violetta in La traviata, Mimi in La bohème and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at some of the most prestigious international opera stages.
Her 2016 / 2017 engagements include Violetta in La traviata at the Teatro San Carlo Naples and at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, Valencienne in The Merry Widow at the NCPA Beijing, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera at the NCPA Opera Festival Beijing, Musetta in La bohème at the NCPA Mumbai, Mimì in La bohème at the Astana Opera, and operatic galas celebrating the career of Leo Nucci in Piacenza and Modena.
Among her 2017 / 2018 engagements, we can already mention her debut as Marie in La fille du régiment at the NCPA Bejing and Mimì in La bohème at the Opera di Firenze.
In 2015 / 2016 she performed Violetta in La traviata at the Opera di Firenze and at the Astana Opera, Giulia in La scala di seta at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Petruzzelli Bari, Mimì in La bohème at the Teatro Coccia Novara and Musetta in the same opera at the Ravenna Opera Festival and the National Opera Vilnius, Norina in Don Pasquale at the Teatro Donizetti Bergamo, Teatro Sociale Como, Teatro Pergolesi Jesi and Teatro Fraschini Pavia.
In February of 2015 Maria Mudryak opened the season of the Teatro Municipale Piacenza as Adina in L’elisir d’amore in a production by Leo Nucci and sang Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann for the Teatri Circuito Lirico Lombardo. In 2014 she made her operatic debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, sang Musetta at the Teatro Rosetum Milan and was part of the “Young Singers Project” at the Salzburg Festival.
Born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan of Russian descent, Maria Mudryak moved to Italy at the age of 10 to pursue her vocal training. One year later she was admitted at the children’s chorus of the Teatro alla Scala. At the age of 14 she was accepted (an exception, due to her young age) at the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan where she graduated with honors four years later; additionally, she studied ten years at the Scuola Musicale di Milano under the tutelage of Carlo Gaifa. She is a winner of the 65 th Aslico Competition for European Young Singers and has won the “The Opera Ball Award” in Kazakhstan.
Ms. Mudryak has collaborated with conductors such as Carlo Rizzi, Renato Palumbo, Aldo Sisillo, Fabrizio Carminati, Christopher Franklin, Matthew Aucoin and Nicola Pazkowsky, and stage directors including Leo Nucci, Hugo De Ana, Ferzan Ozpetek, Chiara Muti and Andrea Cigni.
