Peter Seiffert studied at the Musikhochschule of his hometown Düsseldorf. His first engagement was at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein; at the same time he was awarded the first prize at the singing competition of the Deutscher Musikrat. Opera and concert guest performances all over Europe, and television appearances followed. His engagement as Lohengrin at the Deutsche Oper Berlin marked the beginning of his international career. He is a regular guest at the Bavarian State Opera Munich where he sang all the important roles of his repertoire. There he was appointed Bayerischer Kammersänger in 1992.

His repertoire also encompasses the roles of the dramatic German and Italian repertoire. His concert and opera activities took him to all the important musical centres of the world like the Metropolitan Opera New York, Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opera Châtelet in Paris, Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Teatro Real Madrid, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Berlin State Opera, Munich State Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, the Maggio Musicale in Florence, the Salzburg Festival.

In 1996 he made his debut as Stolzing at the Bayreuth Festival, in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005 he appeared there as Lohengrin. In Zurich Peter Seiffert sang Tamino, Parsifal, Florestan, Erik and Max. Zurich also enjoyed his debut as Tannhäuser and Turiddu.

Numerous recordings with almost every important conductor of our time, and awards like the Echo-Klassik “Singer of the Year” (1999) “Grand Prix du Disque”, document - the Grammy Award for his portrayal of Tannhäuser recorded with Daniel Barenboim prove the artists’ versatile work.

His recent recordings and DVDs comprise THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, TANNHÄUSER, DIE WALKÜRE and FIDELIO.

Today Peter Seiffert is one of the world’s most famous tenors and is being celebrated by the audiences enthusiastically and appreciated by the international press as a singer and performer. He has been honoured Kammersänger of the Vienna State Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
