Stuart was a choral scholar at Christ Church, Oxford, studying Biological Sciences, before completing his training at the Royal Academy of Music in 2013 where he studied with Ryland Davies.

In 2011, aged 25 and the youngest finalist, Stuart won second prize at the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition and as a keen recitalist, has appeared at Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and St John’s Smith Square, London and at Oxford’s Holywell Room.

Stuart was a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2013, singing in a new chamber opera based on Britten Canticles, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, as well as Officer Ariadne auf Naxos and during the ²⁰¹³⁄₁₄ season, Stuart joined the Stuttgart Opera Studio and performed the title role in Gluck Orphée et Eurydice, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni, Gastone La Traviata, Abdallo Nabucco and Second Priest Die Zauberflöte.

Plans this season and beyond include Bach St John Passion on a European tour with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Stephen Layton, including London (Evangelist) and Frankfurt and Paris (arias); Messiah with the Gabrieli Consort and Paul McCreesh; Purcell Dido and Aeneas with Trevor Pinnock at Wigmore Hall; Purcell The Fairy Queen with RIAS Kammerchor, Berlin and Rinaldo Alessandrini; Jonathan in Handel Saul for Glyndebourne on Tour and Laurence Cummings; Mozart Mass in C Minor with the Royal Northern Sinfonia; Lucio Vero in Jommelli Il Vologeso for both Classical Opera and Stuttgart Opera; Don Ottavio for Classical Opera; St John Passion on tour with the Orchestra of the 18th Century and Daniel Reuss; Beethoven Choral Fantasy with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Thomas Dausgaard; Alcesta in Cavalli Erismena for Aix-en-Provence Festival in Aix as well as on tour and a return to Wigmore Hall for a recital with James Bailleau.

Stuart has sung Osroa in JC Bach Adriano in Siria with Classical Opera Company and Ian Page; Handel L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato at the London Handel Festival; Vivaldi Dixit Dominus with Academy of Ancient Music and Richard Egarr; Bruckner Te Deum and Jomelli Il Vologeso with Oper Stuttgart; Haydn Creation with the Ulster Orchestra; Handel Israel in Egypt with the Huddersfield Choral Society; Bach St John Passion (arias and Evangelist) with the OAE and Stephen Layton, given a number of concerts under the direction of Laurence Cummings as well as a Bach programme with the OAE and John Butt, following which Michael Church wrote in The Independent: “…Stuart Jackson was the big discovery…the ethereal sweetness of his tone plus his accomplished artistry surely mark him out for a brilliant future.”

For Royal Academy Opera he sang Bénédict in Berlioz Béatrice et Bénédict, First Armed Man Die Zauberflöte and Count Errico in Haydn La Vera Costanza. Stuart is a Samling scholar, and a current recipient of the Sybil Tutton Award administered by the Musicians Benevolent Fund. He is a Classical Opera Associate Artist.
